I am in NY because my sister had back surgery for her scoliosis yesterday. The surgery itself went very well, with no complications. I was at the hospital with her from 7AM until about 5:30. She was in so much pain though. Expected, but it was so hard to see her like that. She was crying, and kept asking why it doesn't stop hurting even though they gave her pain killers. Every time she dozed her breathing slowed down too much so we had to keep waking her up while she was in recovery to make her breathe. This is very common with morphine. She will be in the hospital until at least Friday. I will be going to see her again each night this week. I am planning on being home Saturday afternoon if she is doing well.

Describe me in one word in the comments.

They say you can tell a lot about a person from their play-list. Randomize your play-list and list the following numbered songs:

1. Little Things Mean a Lot- Kitty Kallen
4. Kom Susser Tod- Evangelion
7. Shout- Tears for Fears
10. Eternal Flame- The Bangles
15. On My Own- Les miserables
17. Wind Beneath My Wings- Bette Middler
26. Killing Me Softly- The Carpenters
35. Never Ending Story techno remix
42. Carry On My Wayward Son- Kansas
50. Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft- The Carpenters
75. Wake Me Up Before You Go Go- Wham
100. Piano Man- Billy Joel

Then tell me what my play-list tells you about me.

I think this random selection of my play-list says.... nothing much ...

Or not... I really do smell like Maple Syrup though.

I think I want to go to Lunacon again this year. I had a really good time last year. I would be bringing Cadence if I went, but what the heck, might as well start her out early.

I seriously need to find something to do once a week in order to get away from my house a little.

Who knew?

Who would've guessed that I would one day view hot showers and shaving my legs as a luxury.

Thank you!

Thank you everyone for your congratulations and well wishes. Cadence and I have been home since Wed. (which is awesome since I wound up having a c-section). We are doing very well, and getting well into the swing of things.

I hope we will get to see you all soon!

Happy Halloween!

I made Glenn his pumpkin bread yesterday. He was happy and is enjoying it. His team at work had a baby shower lunch for him and a bunch of women who are pregnant there as well right now. How cute is that? They sent us a home a bag of useful items for the baby. So, tonight, I baked pumpkin cookies with a brown sugar icing, sprinkled with cinnamon and powdered sugar. I am going to send them to work with him tomorrow with a thank you card.

Now I am tired, and can't wait for his game to break up for the night since I am still sleeping in the living room on the recliner.

Glenn and I went pumpkin picking Saturday. We each got a pumpkin to carve and another to make pumpkin bread out of. (Glenn's request) I have never made pumpkin bread before. Anyone have a good recipe? I did find a lot online, but it's not the same as knowing someone who has actually made and tasted the recipe.

How is it that 4 weeks now seems a lot longer then it did not that long ago.

Glenn and I are going apple picking this Saturday at the Nashoba Valley Winery. They have a nice sized orchard, and a really nice winery that specializes in fruit wines. They also offer wine tasting. Picking is from 10AM-5 PM. We plan on being there around 1PM if anyone else wants to pick apples.

Their apple picking website is: http://www.nashobawinery.com/pick.html

Current pickings are:
Cox Orange Pippen
RI Greening
Very Limited McIntosh

and their prices are currently $12 per peck and $18.00 per 1/2 bushel (which is a little pricey but I still prefer them to other orchards I have been to).

So, yeah, we're going, and then I am going to make apple pie.

Glenn totally nixed Kyria Noelle as a name for our baby. Too bad, I liked it.

Grab the nearest book.

Open the book to page 56.

Find the fifth sentence.

Post the text of the next two to five sentences in your journal along with these instructions.

Don't dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.There, on a bench on the plank sidewalk, lounged an old codger smokinh and imitation corncob pipe. "Hi there" said Sushi. "Can you tell me the name of this town?" "Damfino," said the man, not bothering to remove the pipe from his mouth.

From: Phule's Errand by Robert Asprin with Peter J. Heck. It's one of Glenn's book.

In other news, I am sick. I seem to be developing a bit of a cold. I have a cough and a nasty sore throat. :-(

Thanks to all the prodding from yesterday, Glenn and I finally narrowed our name list down to three names. I decided to post a poll containing names that came out on top. Please feel free to give us your opinions.

[Poll #1265204]

*disclaimer* I make no guarantees that the winning name on this poll will be the baby's actual name. Another name entirely may be chosen at at the last minute. This poll is intended for entertainment only.

I did wind up going out to Nu's yesterday, and hung out with awesome people. I have to thank Glenn for kicking my ass to go out. I had a really nice time, and am feeling much more human today then I have in a couple of weeks.

Dinner was absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious, and the company wonderful.

I am very glad I went.

OK back to work!

Baby Shower

Yesterday was my baby shower in NY. It was fun. And crazy. Having Nuance, Toph, and Sharon there were a huge help in maintaining my sanity. I will go into detail at some point when I am not quite so tired.

Afterwards, Glenn and I went to see Indiana Jones at the $2 theater. I believed everyone when they said it was bad, but I figured, eh it's Indiana Jones, it's supposed to be cheesy and I will probably still like it. Oh my God! It was so awful. It was like it was a spoof. Absolutely horrible.
